Blessing of the Motorcycles and Riders

"I've blessed dogs, cats, pigs, snakes, horses, goats, rabbits, houses and cars, and other critters, but never morotcycles", said Fr. Jeff Kraemer.

But on a beautiful spring Saturday Fr. Jeff and Deacon Don blessed members of several Harley Davidson motorcycles clubs. The event was sponsored by the local Harley Davidson dealer who knew Fr. Jeff rode a Harley and asked him to participate in an event that has taken place elsewhere, but never on the Monterey Peninsula.

105 bikes, many with 2 riders, arrived at the parking lot so there was a lot of action all accompanied by the ROAR of exhausts. Quite a morning. Riders did not want water or anything else splashed on their Harley Paint so Holy Oil was administered to the glass headlamp, then the riders were asked their names and personally blessed with the sign of the cross for safe travel. There would have been more bikes, but there were 3 other bike activities happening the same weekend. It's definitely an active and social group of men and women with activities almost every weekend. No, no Hells Angels showed up.`
