Each fall, in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Dunstan’s hosts The Blessing of the Animals outdoor worship service for members of the church and community.  Over the years blessings have been bestowed on a wide assortment of animals including horses, dogs, cats, snakes, calves, fish, birds, goats, gerbils, lambs, burros and rats. All animals are to be on a leash or in a cage and there have been very few mishaps, but one year a child’s pet rabbit escaped and hopped, too fast to catch, to the adjoining golf course never to be seen again!
