Rites of Passage | St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church

People of all faiths celebrate life passages with rituals that bring joy, celebration, and when needed, comfort and remembrance. The welcoming rite of baptism, for children and adults, occurs at St. Dunstan’s periodically at a Sunday service. Confirmation is offered to baptized persons who wish to make a mature commitment to their faith. Confirmation is performed by the bishop of the Diocese of El Camino Real on what is typically an annual visit to the parish. For guidance on how to prepare for Baptism and Confirmation, contact us.

The joyful sacrament of marriage is celebrated at St. Dunstan’s by arrangement with the rector. In the Episcopal Church, the member of the clergy who will solemnize the marriage typically meets with the couple on several occasions prior to the service to discuss the meaning of Christian marriage in the couple’s life. Contact us to make an appointment.

The solemn services marking a death are significant rites in Christian life, honoring the soul that has ascended and bringing families and friends together to commend their loved one to God. At a funeral service, the body or cremated remains are present; a memorial service is one where the remains are not present. To reach our rector concerning a death, call the parish office at 831-624-6646. If it is after office hours, you will be prompted on how to reach a clergy member.

Sunday mornings at St. Dunstan’s is the time when the community gathers together to worship and praise God! Services of Holy Eucharist happen at 8am (Rite II, no music) and at 10am (Rite II with organ & choir), followed by coffee and connection! We also gather on Wednesday mornings for a more intimate service with conversation, reflection and communion. Any time you are unable to join us in person, head on over to St. Dunstan’s Live, where you can join us for our 10am service, live-streamed on YouTube. You’ll also find our latest sermons and past services on our St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church Carmel Valley YouTube Channel. And, once a month we gather for Church for All Generations — a time of theme-based fellowship and activities for all ages!

St. Dunstan’s is located on the spectacularly beautiful Central Coast of California, in Carmel Valley. Our church and school are in Mid-valley, just six miles inland from California Highway 1, and 5 miles west of Carmel Valley Village.
